All About Cleansing!

What is double cleansing?

Double cleansing is where you wash your face twice. If you are not on the acne program my favorite 2 cleansers are the Glymed Mega Purifying wash as your first and Glymed Gentle Cleanse with Bio-cell as the second.  Your first wash is to remove oil, dirt, debris from your face that accumulated through the day. The second cleanse will go in and deep clean your pores since all of the dirt and pollution is off your skin giving a better foundation for your serums and moisturizers to better penetrate into your skin.

Do I need to be cleansing day and night?

Absolutely! During the day we pick up pollution, dirt, sweat, ect. Most times your active products will be on during the night while you sleep so you want nice and clean skin so your products can penetrate into the skin. In the morning is also important because as you sleep you drool, sweat and you are also wearing actives on your skin that you want to remove before your day begins.

How long should you be cleansing your face?

Ideally you want to cleansing your face 90 seconds to 2 minutes. When you are cleansing make sure to use circular motions. That ensures you get every angle of your pore. If you have certain parts of your face that are more prone to breakouts, spend a little extra time in that area. I personally tend to get breakouts near my chin and nose so I like to spend more time there than on my cheeks where it gets a little bit more sensitive.

Do I wash my face before or after a workout?

Morning Workout: If you are working out in the morning you will want to just cleanse your face and moisturizer and SPF on before your workout. You don’t want to keep what you had on your face during the night if you are using actives. Then after your workout do your whole morning routine including your cleanse.

Evening Workout: If you are working out in the evening there is no real prep, just get in there but when you finish you do want to wash your face. Especially if you are acne prone.
